So I have worked as an art-reproduction-photographer at a high-end art gallery for quite a while now. Over the years I got sick of the silly Christmas Cards we would send out, replete with generic snowflake clipart, so I set out to do something diferent. I’d always wanted to manipulate the image from Rembrandt’s remarkable etching “Self Portrait in a Velvet Cap and Plume” (Bartsch 20) so I came up with this silly Santa Hat idea and people seemed to really enjoy it so I’ve kept up the tradition, following up with manipulations of iconic prints Toulouse-Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha and Pierre Renoir. Maybe it’s run it’s course, maybe not. I think I may still have to battle Pablo Picasso.
